EX-POLICE OFFICER TO FACE COURT OVER ALLEGED RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT
A former police officer accused of raping and sexually assaulting a woman he met through a dating app is scheduled to appear in court.Christopher Mallet, aged 40, previously served as a Sussex Police constable based in Horsham.
The alleged incident occurred in May 2019 when he was off-duty.
Following an investigation conducted by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), Mallet was charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
The investigation concluded in March 2021, after which the Crown Prosecution Service reviewed the evidence and approved the charges.
Mallet is expected to appear at Guildford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
