ABERDEEN MAN CONVICTED FOR SEX ASSAULT CAUGHT ON CCTV
A man from Aberdeen named Christopher Kenn has been convicted for a serious sexual assault on a 16-year-old girl. The incident occurred as the girl was walking home from school, and CCTV footage captured the attacker following her along the street.
The footage shows Kenn jumping on top of the girl, covering her mouth, and repeatedly punching her before assaulting her.
During the attack, Kenn was described as making growling sounds, and he was startled by headlights from a passing car and a woman walking her dog, who also came to the victim’s aid.
A Good Samaritan, who had heard the victim scream and ran to her help, assisted by calming her down, providing her with water, and encouraging her to call her father.
The girl’s father and the police were contacted, leading to Kenn’s arrest.
Kenn admitted to the assault and also to a previous incident in 2008 where he assaulted another woman with intent to rape, which was linked by DNA evidence.
During the court proceedings, Kenn pleaded guilty and was deferred sentencing, but has been placed on the sex offender registry.
The investigation was supported by the community, and the court acknowledged the guilty plea.
The case has highlighted the importance of CCTV footage in solving such crimes, and Kenn’s actions have been described as ‘stupid’ and unpremeditated by him.
The court will decide on the sentence after reports are completed.
