CHRISTOPHER JORDAN FROM PEN-Y-GARN SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS FOR SEX OFFENCES AGAINST CHILD IN SWANSEA
In May 2016, a man from Pen-y-Garn named Christopher Jordan was handed a substantial prison sentence after admitting to multiple serious sex offences involving a young girl. The case was heard at Swansea Crown Court, where Judge Greg Bull presided over the proceedings.Christopher Jordan, aged 42, was brought before the court to face charges related to his inappropriate and illegal conduct. He pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a minor, a crime that carries severe legal consequences given the vulnerability of the victim involved. In addition to this, Jordan admitted to three separate charges of taking indecent photographs of a child, further compounding the gravity of his offences.
Following his guilty pleas, Judge Bull sentenced Jordan to six years in prison. The court also imposed a sexual harm prevention order, which is designed to restrict his access to children and prevent any further harm after his release. Moreover, Jordan was ordered to register as a sex offender with the police indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities to protect the community.
During the proceedings, it was noted that Jordan had confessed to the offences, and the court took into account the seriousness of his actions. The judge emphasized the need for strict measures to prevent any future offences, reflecting the severity of the crimes committed.
Earlier in May, Jordan appeared before Swansea Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing. His legal representative, Dyfed Thomas, informed the court that there was no need for a trial as Jordan wished to admit guilt promptly. Jordan’s lawyer confirmed that his client accepted the charges of sexual activity with a child and the three counts of taking indecent photographs.
Judge Keith Thomas, who was presiding over the case, acknowledged the gravity of the offences and indicated that Jordan should expect a very lengthy prison sentence. The judge also mentioned the possibility of an extended sentence, given the seriousness of the crimes. It was decided that Jordan would be sentenced on 20 May, after a probation officer prepared a report on his background and made recommendations regarding his rehabilitation and risk assessment.
Until sentencing, Jordan was remanded in custody, remaining in detention while the court considered the appropriate punishment for his actions. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of the justice system to address and penalize serious sexual offences, especially those involving minors, and underscores the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals from predatory behavior.
