County Antrim Child Abuser
A man and his wife from County Antrim have been sentenced for their roles in a severe abuse case involving a four-week-old infant. Christopher Fulton, aged 35, was convicted of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, along with two counts of cruelty to a child. The court described the assault as comparable in severity to a car crash, which resulted in the baby being left 'blind and brain damaged.' The judge stated that Fulton 'inflicted the life-threatening injuries' and demonstrated aggressive behavior towards the child, showing no remorse and maintaining a denial of guilt. He received a sentence of 22 years in prison. His wife, Amanda, aged 36, was found guilty of causing or permitting the child to suffer physical harm and of cruelty. She was sentenced to four years in jail after being judged to have 'failed to protect' the child, despite knowing her husband was capable of causing serious harm. Both offenders are residents of Rockfield Gardens in Mosside. Additionally, a restraining order was issued to prevent them from having future contact with the victim. Prosecutors highlighted the devastating impact on the baby, who now suffers from severe dystonic cerebral palsy, is effectively blind, has an intellectual disability, epilepsy, and communicates only through crying. The court emphasized that there were no mitigating factors in the case, and both offenders showed no remorse, continuing to deny their guilt. The judge condemned their actions, emphasizing that the harm inflicted is irreversible, and accordingly, issued the sentences.
