ABERDEEN SEX OFFENDER IMPRISONED FOR HISTORICAL CHILD ABUSE
A sex offender named Christopher Duncan, aged 57, who committed multiple crimes of a sexual nature against young boys in Aberdeen between 1976 and 1986, has been sentenced to three years and nine months in prison.Duncan was found guilty of three charges of indecently assaulting two boys, aged 13 and 14, as well as two additional offences of indecent conduct.
The case was heard at the High Court in Edinburgh, where the judge emphasized the seriousness of the crimes and noted that Duncan's offending occurred when he was between 12 and 23 years old.
The court received a victim impact statement indicating that one victim remains severely traumatised.
Despite Duncan having no offences in the last 36 years and being described by defense counsel as a "law-abiding citizen" during that period, the judge stated that custody was unavoidable due to the gravity of the offences and his persistent offending until the age of 23.
The judge also ordered that Duncan remain on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
"Although you are a first offender, I consider a custodial sentence is inevitable here because of the serious nature of this offending and the fact you persisted in that until you were 23," said Lord Burns.
The sentencing underscores the gravity of the crimes committed by Duncan and their lasting impact on the victims.
