ABERDEEN MAN JAILED FOR RELENTLESS CAMPAIGN OF STALKING AND HARASSMENT
A man named Christopher Clark, aged 38, has been jailed for persistent stalking following a series of disturbing incidents.Clark had previously been under a court order prohibiting contact with his ex-wife but continued his campaigns of harassment.
He sent his former partner a threatening letter in which he made a grim joke about someone losing an eye, stating, "The guns will be so much fun, but if not supervised properly honestly someone will lose an eye (I’m hoping you)." The letter caused her considerable alarm.
Additionally, Clark appeared at her child's school sports day and stood close to her, leading to her becoming distressed and alerting the school authorities.
Clark also previously sent her 16 messages via a banking app, breaching multiple court orders.
His history includes violations of a non-harassment order from October 2020 and subsequent community sentences, which failed to deter his offending behavior.
His defense mentioned possible mental health issues and alcohol problems, claiming the letter was intended as a joke, but these claims were not accepted by the court.
The sheriff noted Clark's history of domestic offenses and his lack of insight, leading to a six-month prison sentence and a new non-harassment order for three years.
The court's decision was influenced by his repeated offenses and failure of community orders to prevent his actions.
