Man jailed for 14 years after violent stabbing attack in Swansea

A 57-year-old man named Christopher Chandler has been sentenced to 14 years in prison following a violent attack on his partner. The incident occurred on 25 September 2022 when officers from South Wales Police responded to concerns for a woman on Orchard Street, Swansea. They found a woman with multiple serious stab wounds to her upper body, with the blade of the knife embedded in her. She was rushed to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff for treatment and removing the knife blade. Chandler was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. Detective Constable Andrew Hirst, of Neath CID, described the event as 'an extremely frightening incident for the victim who remained in hospital for some time receiving treatment for the serious injuries caused in the violence demonstrated by Christopher Chandler.' He added, 'The woman continues to recover from the trauma and receive further support. The bravery shown by the victim is completely admirable and her strength throughout this process has been unwavering.' Chandler was found guilty and sentenced at Swansea Crown Court. Officers emphasized their commitment to protecting victims of domestic abuse, highlighting the importance of reporting such incidents, and the police's dedication to preventing ongoing abuse.
