HUDDERSFIELD MAN THREATENED TO SHARE EXPLICIT PHOTOS OF HIS EX WITH HER PARENTS
A former pub landlord, Christopher Baird, ran The Zetland in Huddersfield and admitted to sending a grossly offensive message.During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Baird and his victim shared a seven-year relationship and had a child together before separating four years prior.
Despite limited contact primarily for arranging contact with their daughter, the victim chose not to communicate otherwise due to his 'angry and aggressive' behavior.
On April 5, she received threatening messages from Baird via Facebook and WhatsApp, which included abusive language such as calling her 'a piece of s**t', a 'slag', and 'a lazy piece of scum'.
Baird also threatened to share explicit photos of her with her parents and mentioned involving social services.
The victim expressed feeling 'anxious and sick' and worried about her daughter growing up with a negative perception of her.
Baird, who is from Golcar, apologized for his behavior, claiming he was drunk and distressed after discovering he had cancer.
He stated, 'It was a rough time.
I'd found out I had cancer, lesions, on my legs.
I'd gone out, had a drink and was upset.
She said I couldn't see my daughter.
Things got on top of me and I lashed out.' He also expressed remorse, saying, 'It was stupid and I'd like to apologise.
I'm really sorry and I apologise to her father too.' Baird confirmed he has not been in contact with his ex since April.
In a previous conviction from May 2015, he received a community order after being found guilty of submitting false invoices, which could have defrauded HMRC of over £4,000.
The court issued a restraining order banning him from contacting the victim except for arranging child contact, for a period of one year.
He was also fined £150, ordered to pay £85 court costs, and a £32 victim surcharge.
