TEACHER BANNED AFTER SEX WITH PUPIL AND BUYING ALCOHOL FOR CHILDREN
A teacher found guilty of having sex with a 16-year-old pupil at her Glasgow home and buying booze for other children has been banned from teaching.Christine Fair, who was a probationary teacher at Larkhall Academy, Lanarkshire, at the time, engaged in sexual intercourse with a boy known only as Pupil A at her home in Pollok between May and June 2009.
Additionally, at the school's end of year dance, Fair, then 27, was seen purchasing alcohol for Pupil A and other pupils.
Following these events in 2009, Fair was investigated by police and suspended by the school.
The General Teaching Council for Scotland Disciplinary Sub-Committee found that two charges against her were proven: firstly, that she had sexual intercourse with Pupil A while employed at Larkhall Academy, and secondly, that she bought alcohol for pupils under 18 at Airth Castle Hotel on June 10, 2009.
Fair did not attend the hearing, and her solicitor stated she had no intention of responding further.
Her name was removed from the teaching register, and she will not be able to apply for a teaching license in Scotland for at least a year.
A council spokesperson confirmed she left the employment of South Lanarkshire Council in 2009, where she was a probationer from 2008 to 2009.
