CHRISTIAN JONES CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN COEDPOETH
In a case that has shocked the community of Coedpoeth, Christian Matthew Alan Jones, aged 39, was found to be in possession of indecent images and videos depicting children, after a police investigation uncovered his involvement in sharing such material via social media.The incident came to light in February 2015, when authorities traced an email address linked to a Twitter account that was actively distributing inappropriate images of minors.
According to court proceedings, law enforcement officials identified the IP address associated with the email, which ultimately led them to Jones’s residence.
A warrant was issued, and police officers executed a raid while Jones was at his place of employment.
During the operation, they seized his computers and other electronic devices.
When Jones returned home, he was promptly arrested and informed that his mobile phone would also be confiscated.
Jones initially claimed that he had left his phone at work, but when officers indicated they would contact his employer to retrieve it, he admitted to hiding the device behind a nearby tree and subsequently led the officers to it.
An analysis of his computers and phone revealed the presence of multiple indecent images and videos involving children.
Additionally, investigators discovered two pieces of software designed to delete files permanently, indicating an attempt to conceal his activities.
During the court hearing, the prosecution, led by Justin Espie, detailed the findings and the timeline of events.
Jones was charged with making indecent images and movies of children, as well as possessing 25 such images.
The case was adjourned until a later date for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
Defence lawyer Ian Barnes explained that Jones’s initial motivation for creating the Twitter account was driven by a misguided desire to expose and highlight the activities of individuals uploading such illegal content.
Mr.
Barnes stated that Jones’s intentions were to share the images and identify the uploaders in an effort to raise awareness and prompt action against offenders.
However, he acknowledged that Jones’s actions quickly spiraled into a serious breach of conduct, and there was no justification for his subsequent behavior.
Mr.
Barnes emphasized that Jones had ceased downloading such material by the end of 2014 and had taken steps to seek help by voluntarily referring himself to an organization dedicated to assisting individuals with similar issues.
The lawyer highlighted that Jones was genuinely remorseful and deeply ashamed of his actions.
Interestingly, Jones reportedly felt a sense of relief upon his arrest, believing that facing punishment might help alleviate some of his guilt.
In sentencing, magistrates, led by Chair Wendy Jones, imposed a three-year community order on Jones.
This included a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement and a mandate to complete an Internet Sexual Offenders Programme over the next three years.
Furthermore, Jones was subject to a five-year sexual harm prevention order, designed to restrict his access to certain online content and prevent further offenses.
He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £60.
The court’s decision reflects the seriousness of his actions and the ongoing concern about online exploitation and abuse.
