Grimsby Sexual Abuser
Cheyne Phillips, a 34-year-old physical education teacher renowned for his fitness and dedication, has been permanently barred from the teaching profession following a disciplinary hearing that uncovered multiple instances of inappropriate conduct involving pupils. The investigation revealed a disturbing pattern of misconduct that spanned several years during his tenure at Healing Science Academy in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire.

Phillips, who was employed at the school from July 6, 2016, until July 22, 2022, was found to have engaged in a series of unacceptable relationships with students, breaching professional standards and ethical boundaries. The disciplinary panel detailed that Phillips had regular sexual encounters with one pupil, identified only as Pupil B, and also engaged in flirtatious exchanges with another pupil, Pupil A, through social media platforms such as Instagram. These interactions, which included sending suggestive messages and sharing explicit images, were deemed highly inappropriate and a serious violation of his professional responsibilities.

The allegations surfaced when, on October 6, 2021, Pupil A’s mother submitted a formal complaint after discovering messages from Phillips that she believed contained sexual content. This prompted further investigation, which uncovered that, on November 15, 2021, Pupil B’s mother reported that her daughter, who had recently left the school, had been involved in a sexual relationship with Phillips since July 2021. The panel’s findings confirmed that Phillips had followed Pupil A on Instagram, sent her photographs, and made suggestive comments that implied a sexual interest.

Further evidence revealed that Phillips communicated with Pupil B through various digital platforms, including email, Instagram, and Snapchat. These exchanges involved the sharing of explicit images and sexual acts, including digital penetration, on multiple occasions. The panel documented that Phillips made flirtatious remarks such as “ur a secret,” and at times, made physical advances, including kissing, touching her private parts, and instructing her to wear looser clothing to facilitate sexual activity. Notably, Phillips explicitly asked Pupil B to “s**k me off,” an act she performed, and they reportedly had sex on two separate occasions.

The disciplinary panel concluded that Phillips’s conduct was grossly unprofessional and a clear violation of the standards expected of educators. As a result, he was handed an indefinite ban from all teaching activities, effectively ending his career in education. At the time of his employment, Phillips served as Deputy Head of PE at Healing Science Academy and was known for his enthusiasm for combat sports, having once raised over £6,000 running a marathon for charity. Despite his positive public image, his actions have been widely condemned, and the report emphasizes that he is now prohibited from engaging in any future teaching or related activities. The severity of the penalty underscores the gravity of his misconduct and the importance of safeguarding students from such breaches of trust.
