CALDERDALE WOMAN JAILED FOR ROBBERY OF VULNERABLE WIDOWER
A 45-year-old woman from Sowerby Bridge, Cheryl Thompson, has been sentenced to jail for her involvement in a robbery at the residence of a vulnerable widower in Halifax.Thompson, who has a history of nearly 40 previous convictions, admitted to participating in the early evening attack on June 2.
Her co-defendant, Kimberley Booth, aged 41 from Halifax, was sentenced to four years after pleading guilty to the robbery.
Bradford Crown Court was told that both women forcibly entered the man's home, where he was pinned down and robbed of a wallet containing only £10 and a leisure pass.
The prosecutor explained that the robbery was a joint enterprise, with Thompson being described as a 'willing and active' participant.
The victim expressed that the incident has caused him profound distress, taking additional security measures and suffering from 'untold nightmares.' Thompson's barrister highlighted her personal difficulties and noted the loss of a child as a catalyst for her drug use.
The judge acknowledged Booth's leading role but emphasized that Thompson was neither a child nor a naïve juvenile.
The victim, who was mourning his wife, experienced a violent struggle with the women during the incident.
