Eynesbury Child Sexual Abuser
In August 2020, a disturbing case emerged involving Charles Wixcey, a 67-year-old former caretaker from Eynesbury, Cambridgeshire, who was convicted of serious sexual offenses against minors. Wixcey, who had served at a local primary school for over a decade before retiring in 2017, continued to volunteer at the school until he was replaced. His actions, however, cast a dark shadow over his years of service.
The criminal investigation was initiated in May 2018 after a girl disclosed to her family that Wixcey had inappropriately touched her while he was administering first aid. This revelation prompted police to act swiftly, leading to his arrest at his residence on Hardwick Road in Eynesbury. During the search of his home, law enforcement officers seized multiple electronic devices for forensic analysis.
The investigation uncovered a disturbing collection of digital material. On a laptop, officers discovered 80 indecent images of children, with 23 classified as Category A, indicating the most severe form of child exploitation material. Further examination revealed several videos recorded covertly in Wixcey’s home, capturing children as they changed clothes. These videos were made using a hidden camera that Wixcey had installed, highlighting a pattern of invasive and predatory behavior.
Additional evidence included a video taken while Wixcey was administering first aid to a girl at the school, which was also found on his laptop. There were also more indecent images involving two pupils, further emphasizing the extent of his misconduct. A second laptop contained an alarming collection of 849 still images, extracted from two videos that Wixcey had secretly recorded using a hidden camera set up to monitor pupils as they went to the toilet. Other images, captured from videos secretly recorded in classrooms, were also recovered, revealing a disturbing level of premeditated voyeurism.
Wixcey faced multiple charges in court, including one count of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching, ten counts of voyeurism, five counts of taking indecent images of children, and a separate charge of making indecent images. He pleaded guilty to all charges during his trial at Cambridge Crown Court. The court sentenced him to five years in prison, reflecting the gravity of his offenses.
In addition to his custodial sentence, Wixcey was handed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, restricting his activities and contact with minors. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for a decade, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct to protect the community from further harm.
