MAN, 58, SEXUALLY ASSAULTED VULNERABLE GIRL IN CEMETERY, COURT RULES
Charles Stuart, aged 58, was found guilty in Aberdeen Sheriff Court of approaching a vulnerable nine-year-old girl diagnosed with learning difficulties and subsequently kissing her in a cemetery.
The incident occurred on February 15, 2022, after Stuart asked the girl to walk with him from a park to a cemetery, where he then kissed her on the mouth before buying her food and returning her home.
The girl reported the assault to a relative, who noted she did not appear stressed, and further police investigation confirmed Stuart's actions.
Stuart, who admitted to the charge of sexual assault by kissing the child, explained to his support worker that he was 'overwhelmed with emotion and trust,' which led to his actions.
The court sentenced him to a community payback order with supervision for two years, ordered him to participate in a sex offenders programme, and placed him on the sex offenders register for two years.
