CHARLES O’NEILL FROM REDDITCH ADMITS TO DOWNLOADING OVER 20,000 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND VIDEOS
In a serious case brought before Worcester Crown Court, Charles O’Neill, a 67-year-old resident of Redditch, has pleaded guilty to the possession and downloading of a vast collection of child sexual abuse material.The charges against him include the possession of more than 20,000 indecent images and videos depicting children in various states of abuse, highlighting the severity of his actions.
O’Neill, who resides on Foxlydiate Crescent in Redditch, appeared in court to admit to eleven charges related to the creation and possession of indecent images of children.
The court proceedings revealed that he had made a significant number of these images, with 18,899 classified as level 1, which is considered the least serious category, between August 2010 and June 2011.
In addition to these, he also admitted to possessing a total of 18 moving images, including one at level 5, the most severe classification, during the same period.
Furthermore, O’Neill confessed to having 613 indecent images of children at level 1, which he acquired between May 2010 and June 2010.
His collection also included over 50 moving images, with four of these classified at level four, indicating a high degree of severity.
These details underscore the disturbing extent of his involvement with such illegal material.
Following his guilty plea, the court granted O’Neill bail under strict conditions.
He is prohibited from having any contact with children under the age of 16, engaging in work involving children, or being part of any group or society that involves minors.
Additionally, he has been ordered to sign the sex offenders register, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
The judge, Robert Juckes, emphasized that all sentencing options remain open and scheduled a further hearing for July 20, where the court will determine the appropriate punishment after a pre-sentence report is prepared.
