WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY TO BOTTLE ATTACK ON PARTNER AFTER FUNERAL
A woman named Chantelle Coulter, aged 32, from Marsh, has pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm after repeatedly attacking her partner with a glass bottle in a drunken row following a funeral. The assault took place at their home in Luck Lane, Marsh, in the early hours of November 16 of the previous year.
Prosecutor Jess Lister described how Coulter's partner had been drinking with her after the funeral and a visit to a pub, leading to an argument.
Coulter became increasingly aggressive, throwing objects including glass, and when the victim tried to lock himself in the bedroom to escape her, she threw a glass bottle hitting his forehead and causing cuts and bleeding.
The victim bled heavily and felt dizzy.
Coulter then convinced him to let her back inside, but she resumed throwing things and eventually climbed out of a window.
She also attempted to re-enter the house a second time, which led to the police being called.
The assault lasted approximately 30 minutes, during which the victim was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Coulter claimed she did not throw the bottle intentionally and that the incident was unintentional.
She also admitted to throwing things around the house and breaking glass.
The court heard that Coulter was upset following her friend's funeral, and her partner told her to calm down.
She acknowledged that their relationship is volatile when drinking and asked for help to prevent future incidents.
A full pre-sentence report was requested, and Coulter was granted unconditional bail pending sentencing on May 8.
