SHOCKING SEX-SLAVE CASE: CAROLINE BAKER JAILED FOR HORRIFIC ABUSE
A judge has lifted restrictions on publishing photographs of Caroline Baker, who was convicted in a serious sex-slave case in County Armagh.On 4 April 2017, Caroline Baker was sentenced to three years in prison for her role in subjecting a woman with severe learning difficulties to horrific sexual assaults.
Her husband, Keith Baker, received a 15-year sentence, with an additional five years on license, after being found guilty of raping and filming his assaults on the victim, who was kept in squalid conditions for eight years.
The victims had been confined in a house in Craigavon, where they found her emaciated, with only one tooth remaining and weighing just six stone, after being rescued in 2012.
The court described Keith Baker as a 'Svengali-type figure' who manipulated his wife, and the house was called a 'house of horrors.' The couple pleaded guilty to charges including sexual activity involving penetration and causing a person with a mental disorder to engage in sexual activity.
Keith Baker was also charged with rape and indecent assault, being raised in Guernsey and having lived most of his life in Kent.
Caroline Baker, who was last in court for 18 months with the remainder on licence, had her reporting restrictions lifted, allowing the media to publish her photographs and details of the abuse.
Police uncovered videos of the Bakers abusing their victim, revealing her deterioration over the years.
The judge expressed outrage at how the offenders mistreated a woman who exhibited serious mental defects, depriving her of dignity and basic living standards, describing their home as a 'house of horrors'.
