CAMERON STOTT FROM NEWTONHILL FACES JAIL FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND EXTREME PORNOGRAPHY
In November 2016, a man from Newtonhill was brought before Aberdeen Sheriff Court to face serious allegations related to the possession of indecent images and extreme pornography. Cameron Stott, aged 22, appeared in court to admit to downloading a significant collection of illicit material over a period spanning from September 28, 2015, to February 11, 2016. The court was informed that Stott had accessed and stored a total of 518 indecent images of children, along with 257 videos depicting such abuse. These images and videos were discovered during a police investigation that was initiated after authorities received intelligence indicating that indecent images of children had been downloaded from a Dropbox account linked to Stott. Further complicating the case, on January 12 of the same year, police found that Stott also possessed extreme pornographic material involving adults, including 120 images and 62 videos. The evidence presented in court painted a disturbing picture of the extent of his online activity, which involved both child exploitation and extreme adult content. Sheriff William Summers presided over the case and informed Stott that a sentencing hearing would be scheduled for the following month. The sheriff also warned that Stott would be subject to the notification requirements under the Sex Offenders Act, which mandates registration and monitoring of individuals convicted of sex-related offenses. Addressing Stott directly, Sheriff Summers noted that there was a 'significant likelihood' that he would face imprisonment, emphasizing the gravity of the charges and the potential consequences awaiting him. The court papers listed his address as Fulmar Court, Newtonhill, underscoring his local connection to the area where the investigation took place.
