PAEDOPHILE WHO SENT EXPLICIT IMAGES TO 12-YEAR-OLD DECOY ESCAPE JAIL
A man who sent pornographic images to what he believed was a 12-year-old girl has escaped jail, despite his actions being described as "depraved." Cameron MacKinnon, aged 64, was caught by a paedophile hunter group after he initiated contact with a fake profile pretending to be a young girl. The court was told that MacKinnon engaged in a sordid online chat, during which he expressed intentions to meet the decoy. He told the "child" he would "tuck her in every night" before sending her explicit images involving adult sex toys. MacKinnon also asked her to delete pictures and inquired about her body and hormones, displaying disturbing interest. He forwarded photos of himself and requested images that appeared to be of a young girl, despite her being only 12. Furthermore, he sent images of women in various states of undress, including pornographic pictures of pierced females, and discussed prostitutes. MacKinnon referenced sex education, and sent a sex toy picture, asking if she had a pet name for her private parts. The conversation escalated to him providing his location, which enabled the paedophile hunting group to trace and confront him during a live sting operation. MacKinnon, from Calderpark Avenue, Lochwinnoch, pleaded guilty to attempting to communicate sexually with a young girl and to cause her to view sexual images between June 1 and 30 this year. During the hearing, his solicitor stated MacKinnon was "ashamed" of his behavior, claiming he was "shocked" to see his offending social media. The sheriff noted MacKinnon's vile actions, calling them "depraved," but ultimately sentenced him to a community payback order, including supervision and participation in a sex offenders program, along with 200 hours of unpaid work. He was also placed on the sex offenders register for three years, but avoided imprisonment. The court emphasized that MacKinnon acted in a "sexually motivated" manner and showed limited insight into his actions, which the judge described as "vile."
