CALUM O’REILLY TIMMS FROM MARTOCK FOUND GUILTY OF CHILD INDECENCY AT EDGBARROW SCHOOL

In August 2022, a serious case unfolded involving Calum O’Reilly Timms, an IT technician from North Street, Martock, who faced multiple allegations of child exploitation and possession of indecent images. The court proceedings revealed disturbing details about his conduct and the evidence against him.

During the trial at Reading Crown Court, it was disclosed that O’Reilly Timms had been involved in inappropriate behavior at Edgbarrow School in Crowthorne, where he worked as the site’s IT specialist. The court heard that he had asked two eight-year-old boys if he could drink their urine during a summer camp held at the school. These allegations were supported by one of the young boys, who identified him as the person responsible for the incident. Despite this, O’Reilly Timms denied ever making such a request, claiming he was innocent and that he was in the ‘wrong place at the wrong time’ when the alleged event took place on August 5, 2021.

He was also accused of attempting to sexually assault one of the boys, with the claim that he asked if he could touch the child’s genitals. The defendant has consistently denied these accusations, maintaining his innocence throughout the proceedings. On August 9, the court heard a transcript of the police interview conducted shortly after his arrest on August 6, 2021. During this interview, O’Reilly Timms described his role at Edgbarrow School, stating he had been responsible for the entire IT system for five years and that during the summer term, he often worked alone at the school, using the student toilets in the evenings after the children had left.

When questioned about the allegations, he denied ever speaking to or seeing any young boys in the toilets during the day. He also refuted claims made by one of the boys that he had seen plastic cups in the bathroom, which was part of the accusations. Regarding the specific claim about drinking urine, O’Reilly Timms stated, “I can’t give you an explanation, I’m sorry, I think I must have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.” When asked about his sexual preferences, he claimed he was not particularly interested in young boys, stating, “not really,” and clarified that he liked boys younger than himself but not as young as the children involved. He mentioned that he found 16 and 17-year-olds attractive because he could relate to them, but boys aged 15 were “too young for him,” and he would not pursue any interaction with someone of that age.

Further investigations revealed that O’Reilly Timms possessed indecent images of young children on his computer. The court was shown that many of these images had titles referencing children urinating or defecating, or being urinated or defecated on. During a second police interview, he provided a prepared statement denying any contact with the children in the toilets at Edgbarrow School on the day in question. He also suggested that a contractor working on the school’s refurbishment might have been responsible for the alleged incidents, citing the presence of numerous laborers on site at the time.

Throughout the trial, the evidence painted a disturbing picture of the defendant’s activities, leading to his conviction on multiple counts related to child indecency and possession of illicit images. The case highlights the ongoing concerns about safeguarding children in educational environments and the importance of thorough investigations into such allegations.
