SHROPSHIRE MAN CONVICTED FOR ATTEMPTING TO SOLICIT UNDERAGE GIRL FOR EXPLICIT PHOTOS
A man named Callum Relf, aged 28, who previously lived in Ellesmere but now resides on Thimble Lane, St Martins, has pleaded guilty to two criminal charges. The charges include attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and attempting to incite a female child under 13 to engage in non-penetrative sexual activity.
Relf was caught during a police sting operation where he believed he was speaking to a 12-year-old girl.
Between January 16 and 27, he used Snapchat to contact an undercover officer pretending to be a girl of that age.
The defendant initially claimed to be 18 but then sent explicit messages and images asking if the girl wanted to see his private parts and requesting her to remove her clothes.
Relf admitted to the offences during his police interview, citing struggles with alcohol dependence.
He appeared in Telford Magistrates Court on October 24, where he pleaded guilty.
The magistrates explained they lacked the authority to sentence him for the second charge and scheduled a future hearing at Shrewsbury Crown Court.
Relf was granted unconditional bail and a pre-sentence report was ordered.
