A 28-year-old man has been sentenced to prison following a violent campaign of assault and coercive control against a woman.
Callum Huw Owen O’Marah, from Gwernydd, Bethesda, appeared before Mold Crown Court on Monday, July 7th, where he pleaded guilty to charges including coercive and controlling behavior, two counts of intentional strangulation, and threatening to share an intimate photo.
For several months, O’Marah persisted in a pattern of domestic abuse, exercising control over the woman’s phone and social media accounts, while frequently physically attacking her through punches, slaps, and strangulation.
Despite being arrested and issued with a restraining order, he continued to contact her daily through phone calls and messages.
The court sentenced him to three years and nine months in custody and imposed a 10-year restraining order to safeguard the victim.
Civilian Investigator Amy Hall-Jones stated: “O’Marah inflicted multiple violent assaults and threats which led to her living in constant fear.
While this ordeal will likely have a lasting impact on her, I hope the severity of the sentence provides some reassurance.
Victims may find reporting abuse challenging, but we want you to know that we will listen, support, and thoroughly investigate all cases.
Our commitment to addressing violence against women and girls remains strong, and we will continue to seek justice for victims.”
