CALLUM JINKS JAILED AFTER ASSAULTS ON HIS PARTNER AND POLICE
A man who used household items as weapons has been sentenced to prison.Callum Jinks exhibited controlling and aggressive behavior during a relationship, Bristol Crown Court was informed on January 20.
He not only threw hot soup at the woman but also hurled a tin of meatballs and cleaning detergent at law enforcement officers who arrived to assist her.
The 23-year-old, residing on Berkeley Grove in Eastville, admitted to three counts of assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH).
Additionally, he confessed to criminal damage, assaulting a police officer, rioting, and breaching a suspended prison sentence for previous fraud charges.
The judge, Julian Lambert, sentenced him to 18 months behind bars.
Prosecutor Kenneth Bell described how, during an argument, Jinks threw a mug filled with hot tomato soup at the woman, resulting in burns on the left side of her face.
Court records stated that in separate incidents from 2019, Jinks punched her in the face when she asked for help around the house, and struck her again, threatening to "blow up the boiler".
Responding officers were attacked when Jinks threw objects including a tin of meatballs at PC Robert Brett, hitting him in the back.
Further police units, including armed officers, arrived after Jinks threw knives and detergent at them.
He was eventually Tasered and taken into custody.
Defense solicitor Matthew Comer explained that both individuals knew how to provoke each other and that the incidents stemmed from mutual antagonism.
He acknowledged Jinks’s regret and remorse, citing his guilty pleas.
The court also issued a restraining order preventing Jinks from contacting his partner for three years.
