JEALOUS NORTHWICH MAN MADE MALICIOUS 999 CALL ABOUT EX
A JEALOUS ex-lover from Weaverham who made a hoax 999 call about his ex-girlfriend and told her he was ‘coming for blood’ has been ordered to do unpaid work.Caleb Groves, of Rowan Road, repeatedly called and texted his victim and sent threatening Facebook messages to her and her new boyfriend in the month after their relationship ended in May.
The 27-year-old, a convicted drug dealer, also told her new partner his ‘nan’s gaff was getting blown up’.
On June 6, he made a malicious 999 claiming she'd left her young daughter home alone, adding the house smelled of cannabis.
Police found his claim to be false, and the call was traced back to his phone.
Later, on June 19, while a passenger in a friend’s car, he saw her driving and told his friend to follow her.
When she realized she was being followed, he made gestures that left her feeling threatened.
Groves was arrested and charged with harassment with intent to cause distress and menacing messages.
He initially denied the charges but pleaded guilty to harassment on the trial day, October 17, which was accepted by the CPS.
He was sentenced on December 6 to an 18-month community order, including 150 unpaid work and 36 rehab sessions.
A restraining order was issued for 18 months banning contact or proximity to the victim in Sandiway.
Groves was convicted of drugs offences in September 2022 for growing cannabis and possession with intent to supply, and was banned from driving for three years in August for drug driving, without insurance, and cannabis possession.
