EXCLUSIVE: THE BABY REINDEER-STYLE STALKER WHO STOLE ABERDEEN MAN’S IDENTITY FOR A DECADE
Burnett Lee Cruickshank, 55, legally changed his name to match his victim's and even managed to have their medical records merged. He was found guilty of ten charges following a week-long trial at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
Cruickshank, a 'fixated' Aberdeen stalker, upended his victim’s life for a decade by stealing his identity, merging his medical records and even claiming to be his next of kin.
His actions included adopting the victim’s name and date of birth, making benefit claims, obtaining official documents like a birth certificate and driver’s license with the victim’s details, and falsely reporting to authorities.
The court heard how Cruickshank's obsession led him to contact the victim’s family and manipulate official records, leaving the victim stressed, depressed, and significantly affecting his mental health.
The jury found Cruickshank guilty of 6 charges on the indictment and convicted him of 4 others.
Sentence was deferred pending reports and assessments.
