ARMY TECHNICIAN JAILED FOR FIVE YEARS AFTER RAPING WOMAN
A man who used to work for the Army repairing helicopters in Wiltshire has been jailed for rape.
Brian Wareham, 52, of Reynolds Court, Andover, Hampshire, had previously pleaded not guilty to rape and stalking without fear, alarm or distress at Swindon Magistrates' Court on November 11, 2024.
He was found guilty of rape on September 17, 2025.
Appearing for sentencing at Swindon Crown Court on Friday, January 2, 2026, the court heard that Wareham raped a woman in Royal Wootton Bassett on August 4, 2024.
Judge Taylor jailed Wareham for a total period of five years and six months.
He must sign onto the sex offender's register indefinitely and a restraining order has been made to prohibit Wareham from contacting the victim directly or indirectly, including on social media.
The 52-year-old has also been given an exclusion map banning him from entering areas of Royal Wootton Bassett.
