Oban Sexual Abuser
In April 2004, a man identified as Brian Todd was sentenced to serve 18 months in prison after being found guilty of multiple sexual offences involving underage girls in the Oban area. The court heard that Todd, aged 29 at the time, had engaged in unlawful sexual activities with two teenage girls and had also exhibited lewd and libidinous behaviour towards two others.

During the proceedings at Paisley Sheriff Court, Deputy Fiscal Pamela McGroarty detailed the disturbing case to Sheriff Susan Sinclair. She explained that Todd had befriended two of his victims when they were just 14 and 15 years old. The court was informed that Todd had committed unlawful sexual acts with one of these girls between November 2002 and October 2003, and he preyed on the other girl in November of the previous year.

Furthermore, Todd was accused of sexually interfering with a third girl, who was only 13 years old at the time, between June and November of the previous year. All these offences took place within the vicinity of Oban, highlighting a pattern of predatory behaviour in the area.

Brian Todd admitted to five separate charges on indictment, which included the unlawful sexual acts and lewd conduct. His actions have caused significant concern within the community, and his sentencing reflects the seriousness with which the court viewed his crimes. The case underscores the ongoing issues of safeguarding minors and the importance of vigilant law enforcement in the Oban region.
