FAMILY’S FRUSTRATION AS ALLEGED CHILD SEX ABUSER FROM BROADSTAIRS DIES BEFORE TRIAL
Retired Channel Tunnel union representative Brian Skipper, 80, of Seacroft Road, Broadstairs, had been charged with 11 historic offences against a young girl when he appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on October 10, 2024.The case was transferred to Northampton Crown Court, where he pleaded not guilty and a trial date was set for May 2026.
However, due to his declining health and a terminal lung illness, he was not fit to stand trial, leading to several delays and adjournments.
Despite pressure to bring the case forward, Skipper died on November 29, 2025, before he faced trial.
His alleged victim’s family, especially the girl’s father, expressed frustration and devastation over the delays and his death, feeling that he avoided justice.
They learned of his passing weeks later, after the case was canceled.
The family had hoped for a court to hear the case, but this was prevented by his health and subsequent death.
