BRIAN RAFFERTY FROM CARNFORTH SENTENCED AGAIN FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES

In December 2018, Brian Rafferty, a 58-year-old former teacher from Carnforth, faced a renewed legal judgment following his involvement in criminal activities related to child exploitation images. Rafferty’s criminal history includes a previous conviction from 2015, when he was found guilty of possessing approximately 2,000 indecent images and extreme pornography. This earlier conviction was not connected to any misconduct at his place of employment or with students.

Despite serving time for his initial offenses, authorities uncovered that Rafferty continued to engage in illegal activities involving the viewing and possession of child exploitation material. During a subsequent investigation, police discovered nine additional images on his computer, indicating ongoing illicit behavior even after his release from prison. This evidence prompted further legal action against him.

In the latest sentencing, Rafferty was handed a prison term of 14 months. Additionally, he was mandated to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities to protect the community. Furthermore, Rafferty was prohibited from working with children in any capacity, reflecting the serious nature of his offenses and the potential risk posed to minors.
