McLeod created a false online persona on the popular social networking platform Bebo, where he posed as a 16-year-old teenager. His goal was to establish a seemingly innocent friendship with young girls, which he successfully achieved with two victims aged 12 and 13. Once he had established a rapport, McLeod began sending sexually explicit messages through both digital means and mobile communication devices.
