ESSEX PAEDOPHILE SENTENCED TO OVER TWO DECADES IN PRISON
An offender known as Brian Craig has been convicted and sentenced for a series of serious sexual offenses committed in the 1970s and 1980s.
The now 74-year-old man, residing on Coast Road, West Mersea, was found guilty of multiple counts of sexual abuse, including rape, attempted sexual intercourse with a girl, and indecent assault.
The crimes involved grooming, controlling, manipulating, and abusing three young girls during the decades mentioned.
The offences came to light after being reported to Thames Valley Police in March 2019.
Craig was arrested on April 8, 2019, and formally charged on December 11, 2020.
Following a two-week trial at Aylesbury Crown Court, he was convicted of one count of rape, one count of attempted sexual intercourse, four counts of sexual intercourse, and seven counts of indecent assault.
On November 1, Craig appeared in court and was sentenced to more than twenty years in prison, reflecting the gravity of his actions and the harm caused to his victims.
Detective Constable Collette Parker expressed her hope that the verdict and sentence will provide some closure for the victims, emphasizing that Thames Valley Police continues to investigate such offenses regardless of how much time has passed.
