MAN JAILED OVER ASSAULTS, DEATH THREATS, AND SHARING INTIMATE IMAGES OF EX-GIRLFRIEND

A man received an eight-year prison sentence after he shared explicit images of his former partner on social media, following a history of severe assaults and controlling behaviors towards her.

During a court session on Wednesday, Judge Keenan Johnson described Blaine Parker, 24, from Clonybane, Ballymore in County Westmeath, as having treated the young woman 'like a punchbag' over multiple years.

He also criticised the influence of misogynistic online figures on young males.

Following the victim’s request to reveal his identity, Parker was named publicly.

Judge Johnson condemned this case as the most severe domestic violence case he had encountered.

He commended the victim for the courage to come forward despite Parker’s attempts to manipulate her and pressure her into dropping charges.

In February 2025, Parker admitted to assault, inflicting harm, and publishing intimate images of her while staying in a hotel.

He also pled guilty to nine additional offenses on a separate indictment, which included multiple assaults causing harm within his home, damaging her phone, and making threats to kill or seriously injure her, spanning from 2022 to early 2025.

It was revealed that the woman endured a series of violent attacks and felt compelled to terminate her pregnancy after Parker, described as a drug addict in debt, threatened to 'kick the child out of you.' During sentencing, Judge Johnson noted the brutality and ongoing nature of the assaults, along with the serious threats made to her life.

He condemned the publication of her private images as disgraceful and degrading.

Parker, dressed in a grey tracksuit, remained silent as the judge handed down consecutive sentences totalling ten years, with the last two suspended for five years under strict conditions, including no contact with his ex-girlfriend, whom he had terrorised for over five years.

Additionally, he received a concurrent five-year term for sharing her images.

The sentences were backdated to February of the previous year, when he was first detained.

The judge acknowledged Parker’s history of heavy drug use involving cocaine and ketamine, commenting on how these cases tarnish modern society, especially given the role of internet influencers spreading misogynistic views that encourage disrespect and domination of women.

He explained that the increasing prevalence of domestic violence among young men is partly driven by substance abuse and negative online influences fostering misogyny.

Johnson emphasised the importance of instilling values like respect and non-violence from a young age.

Court proceedings detailed that the first six months of the relationship were normal, but Parker then became verbally abusive publicly, particularly during drug-induced rage episodes.

The victim initially stayed silent out of fear and affection, but she believes there could have been up to thirty other assaults she cannot recall.

She attended Parker’s sentencing with her family, expressing ongoing fears of revenge.

Now abstinent from drugs, she gave a victim impact statement describing her relationship as a nightmare of 'mental torture' and control, lasting over five years.

She recounted how Parker manipulated her, turning her mobility and associations into control tools, and sometimes suggested her assaults were her fault while threatening suicide to manipulate her.

She now feels empowered but still suffers from PTSD, physical injuries, and trust issues.

She feared for her life during attacks, with Parker once threatening her with death if she spoke out.

Photos of her injuries and her crying for help were presented in court.

During an attack, he split her head, requiring 26 staples, and caused severe facial bruising.

Detective Garda Darren Kerins and legal representatives described Parker’s abusive conduct, including controlling her social interactions, verbally abusing her over her weight or drug use, and constant monitoring of her phones, which she had to hide to communicate with loved ones.

She described Parker’s cruel laughter as a warning of impending violence, and recounted multiple violent incidents over the years, including episodes of extreme drug rage, choking, and threats of killing her.

She shared that Parker had previously demanded she leave their home with a body bag, and on several occasions caused serious injuries requiring hospital visits.

He also forcibly drove her to work, awaiting her outside during shifts.

The relationship also involved pregnancy, which Parker wanted terminated due to his debts, leading her to have an abortion under duress.

He also physically assaulted her after a dog escaped, blaming her and punching her multiple times.

Despite their disputes, Parker’s actions escalated to dangerous physical violence, including an incident where he assaulted her at a hotel, cutting off all communication and inflicting injuries with household objects.

The brutality included smashing her face with a hair dryer and a wooden tabletop.

He posted explicit images of her online and sent them to family members.

The woman suffered severe injuries and trauma, and Parker even taunted her with dismissive and threatening remarks during the attacks.

Over the four years, she experienced numerous episodes of violence, including choking, kicking, and threats, leading her to consider herself in imminent danger.

On one occasion, police arrived just as she was escaping her attacker, who would later deny causing her injuries at the scene.

She managed to find a job, but Parker’s constant surveillance and controlling behaviour persisted, even during her shifts.

Their relationship culminated in threats to her life and physical harm, compounded by drug dependence and coercive control.

Throughout the court case, authorities and detectives detailed the extent of Parker’s violence and manipulation, noting the dangers she faced and the importance of justice in addressing such domestic abuse cases.
