Castleknock W Dublin Child Sexual Abuser
In October 2013, Bernard Delaney, a 72-year-old who was convicted of abusing his own daughter and six other young girls, was seen walking to Mass alongside his wife in Castleknock, West Dublin. Despite his criminal past, Delaney appeared unconcerned as he socialized with parishioners at his local church. On October 18, he was ordered by the High Court to pay β¬450,000 to Sinead McCarthy Garofalo, 45, one of his victims, for the childhood abuse she endured. When approached at his upscale home to comment on the court ruling, Delaney dismissed the questions, replying, βYou must be joking.β He served only three years for his crimes and was released from Arbour Hill prison in 2011. After his release, he moved back to the same suburb, residing near a large creche and primary school, causing outrage among residents. A neighbor, who preferred to remain unnamed, expressed their concern: βIt is so disturbing to think someone like him is living in the area. We see him going to Mass every day with his wife. It is so upsetting.β
