Tyrone man handed probation for stalking teenager in Scotland

TYRONE MAN HANDED PROBATION FOR STALKING TEENAGER IN SCOTLAND

Benjamin McReynolds, a man from Tyrone, has been handed a probation order for his obsessive and threatening behavior towards a teenage girl in Scotland.

The court heard that McReynolds developed an obsessive interest in the victim, a minor, and demanded that she remove certain social media posts of herself.

He threatened her with, “I need you to take these pictures down.

I’m not asking you, I’m telling you.” and followed this with, “If you don’t remove them, I will kill myself.” Despite her blocking him, he tracked her and her mother down on social media, claiming to be suicidal over the situation.

He traveled to Scotland where the victim was, and further locates her workplace despite her not disclosing this information.

His repeated unannounced visits, attempts to contact her, and breaches of bail conditions showed a clear disregard for court orders.

The Scottish court imposed a lifetime ban from contacting the victim, and the Irish court sentenced him to a two-year probation order after acknowledging the disturbing nature of his actions.

The judge warned him that his future was in his own hands and emphasized that he must have no dealings with the victim again.
