Lower Derry Street Domestic Abuser
Benjamin Levy, a 36-year-old from Brierley Hill, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison after subjecting a woman to months of physical and psychological abuse. During the course of the abuse, Levy assaulted her by slamming her head into a door frame, throwing her into a radiator, and striking her with a gym weight.

His actions included a prolonged series of offences, such as physical violence, sexual violence, and controlling behaviour. The woman he was harming managed to provide evidence about his actions, enabling investigators to build a strong case.

Levy was charged with over 15 offences, including controlling and coercive behaviour, assault, threats to kill, causing a person to engage in non-consensual sexual activity, and sending threatening messages. He was initially detained and denied the charges during police interviews and early court hearings but later admitted guilt.

Last week, at Wolverhampton Crown Court, Levy was sentenced to 16 years in prison, with an additional five years to be served on licence. The court also ordered Levy to remain on the sex offender register for life. The judge emphasized the severity of the offences during the sentencing last Thursday (9 January).
