MAIDS MORETON KILLER TO APPEAL AGAINST CONVICTION
Benjamin Field, 34, was jailed in 2019 for the 2015 murder of Peter Farquhar.The conviction is to be referred to the Court of Appeal over a legal argument related to whether Mr Farquhar had been tricked into drinking whisky spiked with drugs, or had done so willingly.
Field had previously been convicted of murder, having manipulated and killed Mr Farquhar, and targeted another elderly victim, Ann Moore-Martin.
He admitted to faking relationships with both pensioners to influence their wills but denied involvement in their deaths.
His crimes were portrayed in a 2023 BBC drama called The Sixth Commandment.
