A sick predator from Bensham has dodged jail after trying to groom what he thought was a 14-year-old girl online — before turning up to meet her at a bus station.
Ben Jackson, 26, claimed he only wanted to “make friends” with the youngster, but quickly turned the chats sexual.
He told the “girl” — who was actually a decoy run by Guardians of the North — that she was “mature for her age” and asked if she would be “up for holding hands or cuddling”.
The creep then went further, suggesting sexual activity by asking if she wanted to “do things she can’t legally do at 14”.
Jackson was confronted at a bus station after arranging a meet-up, where the group and police swooped to take him in.
In court, he was handed a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 24 months, and slapped with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for seven years.
