ABERDEEN SEX PREDATOR JAILED FOR SLEEPING TEEN ASSAULT
A heinous sex offender has been sentenced to jail and placed on the sex offenders register after he committed a sexual assault on a sleeping teenage boy.
Barry Stewart, aged 39, faced Aberdeen Sheriff Court where he admitted to performing a drunken sexual act on the 16-year-old boy at an address in Aberdeen.
Following the initial act, Stewart sexually assaulted the teenager while he was on a sofa when the boy awoke, and the victim fled to the bathroom, saying he couldn't breathe.
The court heard that Stewart had asked the boy about his sexuality earlier that evening, enquiring if he was heterosexual and if he had sexual experience with males.
The assault occurred when the boy was vulnerable, and Stewart's behavior caused significant psychological harm.
Stewart was arrested on the same day but initially denied the assault during police interviews.
His defense argued that he had been drinking heavily and had no recollection of the incident, though he later expressed remorse after evidence was presented.
Sheriff Ian Wallace emphasized the seriousness of the offense and the impact on the victim, sentencing Stewart to 15 months in prison and ordering him to register as a sex offender for ten years.
