A man from Cowdenbeath has pleaded guilty to a brutal assault on his former partner, an incident that took place in the presence of their child. The assault involved physical violence and intimidation, with the victim suffering a series of aggressive acts at the hands of Barry McAully, aged 33, who resides on Netherton Road.

According to court proceedings, the incident occurred on March 8 at McAully's residence. The victim, who is his ex-partner, had gone to their shared home to drop off their child. During her visit, she went upstairs to retrieve some of her personal belongings. It was during this time that she overheard McAully making threatening remarks about damaging her car, which was parked across his driveway. Concerned by his comments and behavior, she began recording the situation on her mobile phone to document the events.

As she attempted to leave, McAully's aggression escalated. He grabbed her by the hair and pulled her head backward, an act that caused her distress and physical discomfort. An argument ensued over financial matters and the sale of their property, which further heightened the tension. As the woman started to descend the stairs, McAully kicked her and continued to pull her hair, demonstrating a pattern of violence and control.

Depute fiscal Katherine Fraser detailed the sequence of events, emphasizing the assault's brutality and the presence of a child during the incident.
