BARRY BEADLE CAUGHT IN ALL AREAS: INTERNET PEDOPHILE SENTENCED IN IOWA
In a case that has sent shockwaves across the community, Barry Beadle, a 51-year-old man from Merseyside, was sentenced to five years in prison after traveling from the United Kingdom to the United States with the intent to engage in sexual activities with a minor he met online.The incident unfolded in Des Moines, Iowa, where Beadle was found guilty of two sex-related crimes following a series of disturbing events.
Beadle, who previously worked as a psychiatric nurse and was also known as a mobile disco DJ, was arrested in April after spending several nights at a hotel in Fort Madison with a 14-year-old girl.
The girl, whose identity was protected in court by the pseudonym Jane Doe, was met by Beadle through an internet chatroom.
The details of their interaction reveal a calculated attempt by Beadle to establish contact with a minor for illicit purposes.
His arrest was triggered unexpectedly when the hotel manager in Fort Madison grew suspicious of a cheque Beadle attempted to pay with.
This suspicion led to further investigation, ultimately uncovering Beadle’s intentions and his illegal activities.
Since his arrest, Beadle has been held in Lee County jail, awaiting trial and sentencing.
A spokesperson from the Iowa Federal Clerk’s Office confirmed that the court had recommended ongoing mental health treatment for Beadle and considered his placement on a sex offenders’ program.
The court’s decision indicates that Beadle is expected to serve at least four and a quarter years of his five-year sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
Upon release, he is likely to face deportation back to the United Kingdom, with restrictions preventing him from re-entering the US without special permission.
In addition to his prison sentence, Beadle was fined £110, which will be allocated to a victims’ support fund.
The court also imposed a ban on his use of internet equipment within the United States, aiming to prevent further offenses.
If he is not immediately deported upon release, he will be required to participate in a sex offenders’ treatment program.
The case highlights the dangers posed by online predators, with FBI agent Thomas Reinwart stating that Beadle, operating under the online alias DJPLAY10, initially inquired about the girl’s age, gender, and location, claiming to be from the UK.
Beadle falsely claimed to be 46 years old, despite the girl being under 15, a fact that Beadle was aware of according to court reports.
The investigation underscores the importance of vigilance in online interactions and the ongoing efforts to combat internet-based child exploitation.
