BADRUL ALOM SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IN UPPER CLAPTON AND GATWICK AIRPORT

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Upper Clapton, Badrul Alom, aged 38, has been handed a nine-year prison sentence after being convicted of heinous sexual offenses involving a young girl. The crimes, which spanned over two years, involved the abuse of a girl who was as young as seven years old at the time of the initial assault.

Alom, who resides at Ferry House on Harrington Hill in Upper Clapton, was arrested on May 16 of this year at Gatwick Airport. His apprehension occurred shortly after he returned from Bangladesh, where he had just gotten married. The timing of his arrest drew significant media attention, as it followed a lengthy investigation into his past actions.

The abuse took place between 2004 and 2006, during which Alom subjected his young victim to repeated sexual assaults. The young girl, now a teenager, was also forced to watch pornographic DVDs, an act that added to the trauma inflicted upon her. The case revealed a pattern of predatory behavior that lasted for several years, deeply affecting the victim’s life.

Alom was found guilty on multiple charges, including attempted rape, assault by penetration, and causing a child to engage in sexual activity. These convictions underscore the severity of his crimes and the impact they have had on the victim’s well-being.

In addition to his prison sentence, a court order has been issued that bans Alom from communicating with girls aged 15 or younger for the next ten years. This restriction requires him to obtain written permission from the police before allowing any contact with minors of that age. Furthermore, the order prohibits him from allowing minors into his home or taking employment that would bring him into contact with young girls, aiming to prevent any future offenses.
