MAN SENTENCED FOR THREATENING WOMAN WITH KNIFE
A man responsible for threatening a woman with a knife and unlawfully imprisoning her has been sentenced to prison.Atul Rabbani-Brooker, aged 26, conducted a pattern of abuse, intimidation, and violent behavior against the victim in East Sussex.
The domestic violence included threats to kill, acts of assault, and damage to property.
These incidents left the woman feeling terrified and fearing for her safety, especially after Rabbani-Brooker threatened to stab her.
She recounted, “I genuinely thought I was going to die that night.” Following the incidents, the victim contacted police, who provided protection and support throughout the investigation.
Evidence from her phone revealed Rabbani-Brooker’s threatening messages and violent acts.
During a hearing at Lewes Crown Court on December 10, Rabbani-Brooker pleaded guilty to two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm, false imprisonment, threats involving an offensive weapon in a private setting, and two charges of criminal damage.
He was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for these crimes.
The court noted that the offenses took place in March 2025, with the victim raising concerns about Rabbani-Brooker’s behavior the following month.
The final assault occurred on March 20, during which he threatened her life with a knife.
The victim described feeling extremely vulnerable on that night, stating, “I feared for my life, I was petrified.” She continues to experience the effects of these events, describing ongoing severe anxiety and trauma, and feeling emotionally broken due to Rabbani-Brooker’s violence and abuse.
