JEALOUS MAN WITH TRUST ISSUES JAILED FOR ASSAULT ON PARTNER
A man named Ashley Taylor, who was under the influence of alcohol at the time, attacked his partner and subsequently left her a note stating: “I love you and I'm sorry.” The incident occurred at their home in Oakes on July 24.Taylor, aged 29 and now residing on Manchester Road in Crosland Moor, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault by beating.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Taylor had trust issues stemming from a previous partner’s infidelity, which contributed to his jealousy and aggressive behavior.
The victim reported that the altercation escalated when Taylor became jealous after she mentioned being invited to go away with a friend.
She explained that Taylor’s eyes were bulging and he was squaring up to her in a rage.
She felt afraid and asked him to leave, but he squared up again, leading to him hitting her on the right cheek, causing her to bump her head on the wall and momentarily black out.
After the assault, she ran upstairs and called the police; Taylor had also left a note on the window.
Taylor claimed that he hit her with the palm of his hand and did not intend to cause injury.
Magistrates sentenced him to a community order with 20 days of rehabilitation to address his behavior, and ordered him to pay £85 in court costs and a £90 victim surcharge.
Taylor acknowledged that alcohol contributed to his actions and expressed regret, stating, “I regret what I did.
I'm not normally a drinker so obviously the drinking affects me more than it should have done.
It was jealousy.
I've tried to get involved in anger management.” The case highlights issues of domestic violence influenced by trust and jealousy, with the court taking rehabilitative measures in response.
