DORKING CHILD SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR BREACHING COURT ORDER
A convicted child sex offender has been jailed after breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order imposed following earlier online grooming offences.Ashley Donoghue was sentenced to 17 months’ imprisonment after being found guilty of breaching the order, according to case information issued in relation to R v Donoghue, URN 45MV0587225.
The update states Donoghue was also made subject to a 10-year requirement to register with police and was ordered to pay a £187 surcharge.
The breach conviction follows an earlier case in which Donoghue admitted sexual offences after arranging to meet a 13-year-old boy at Wimbledon’s Centre Court Shopping Centre in December 2019.
A previous report stated Donoghue had groomed the boy online and was also found in possession of indecent images and videos of children.
He appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court, where he admitted six sexual offences.
Information provided to Red Rose UK alleges Donoghue later misled people close to him about the reason for his imprisonment, allegedly claiming he had been jailed in relation to a driving offence.
The source said concerns grew after Donoghue’s release, when his behaviour allegedly became increasingly secretive and inconsistent.
They claimed Donoghue had spoken about probation restrictions as though they were unreasonable, without disclosing the full background of the case.
The source further alleged that paperwork later found at Donoghue’s address in Beare Green revealed details of the original case, his Sexual Harm Prevention Order and breach proceedings.
Several mobile phones allegedly found at the property were reportedly handed to police, along with other items discovered at the address.
Sexual Harm Prevention Orders are imposed by courts to restrict the behaviour of people considered to pose a sexual risk.
Breaching one is a criminal offence and can result in imprisonment.
Donoghue has now been jailed again after breaching the order made to manage his conduct following his previous child sexual offending.
