HULL FAIR WORKER ASHLEY PHILLIPS-DAWSON CONVICTED OF SEXUAL OFFENSES AGAINST TEENAGERS
Two teenagers, who met at Hull Fair where both men worked, were targeted and groomed by Hull Fair workers before being callously sexually abused in a flat. The police discovered the victims in the flat after investigating their disappearance.
One of the victims disclosed that Edgar, a 29-year-old fairground worker, had committed sexual offences against her in the same bedroom where she was found.
She recounted that Edgar took her into the bedroom, put his hand around her throat, removed her clothes, pinned her by her throat and wrists, and raped her.
Edgar denied the allegations, claiming that all sexual activity was consensual and that he believed the girl was 16 or 17.
Phillips-Dawson, who also worked at the fair, admitted knowing both girls but denied being in the flat at the time of the offences, claiming he was at home with others.
The two victims were also subjected to drug use, inflicted violence, and intimidation.
Edgar was convicted after a trial of rape, inciting sexual activity, and causing actual bodily harm but was cleared of assaulting the second girl.
Phillips-Dawson denied three counts of raping the second girl but was convicted of sexual activity with a child and assault causing actual bodily harm.
Both men were remanded in custody, and Edgar’s sentence was adjourned pending a danger report.
