2011: BLACK COUNTRY SEX PEST JAILED FOR BUS ATTACKS
A MAN who rode the buses of the Black Country carrying out sex attacks has been put behind bars.Lithuanian-born Arunas Kuprys targeted women travelling on buses and had carried out four sex attacks including on a young girl at Dudley bus station.
At Wolverhampton Crown Court, the 20-year-old was jailed for two-and-a-half years.
Dennis Desmond, prosecuting, said a photograph of Kuprys was taken from CCTV footage recorded in Dudley and was circulated in the West Midlands area.
He added Kuprys was then identified and quickly arrested for the offences that had left his victims badly shaken up and very frightened.
Judge Nicholas Webb told Kuprys: "You were looking for young girls to, if I can use the phrase, touch up.
You also chose a location where they could not easily get away from you." He added: "You persisted when, notwithstanding, these girls were all making it clear they wanted you to stop.
This was very distressing to your victims." He also said Kuprys had refused to take "no" for an answer at a time when he was boarding buses in the area just to encounter women.
Kuprys, of Chervil Rise, Heath Town, Wolverhampton admitted four charges of sexual assault and he was further ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Simon Hanns, for Kuprys, told the court it was "bizarre behaviour" carried out by his client over a 15 day period in May and added: "He accepts they were distressing incidents." He said Kuprys clearly needed work and assistance to enable him to behave in a proper manner in the future.
The court was told there were three victims of the sex attacks with one unfortunate young woman being targeted twice in a matter of days by Kuprys.
