OFFENDER WHO STALKED EX-PARTNER AFTER PRISON SENTENCED TO FINE IN ABERDEEN
A man imprisoned for stalking his former partner managed to start harassment again shortly after being released from prison.Arturs Lontons previously served a seven-month sentence for making threatening and sinister messages against his ex-partner, during which a court ordered him to stay away from her for five years. The court records show that in July 2020, Lontons was jailed following incidents where he stalked the woman and threatened to harm her cats if she refused to rekindle their relationship.
Over three months, he bombarded her with phone calls, voicemails, and texts, threatening to appear at her workplace and damage her flat.
Despite these threats, during March and April of the following year, he made efforts to contact her again, calling her more than 30 times and messaging her on social media to express a desire to restart the relationship, though he did not act threatening in these messages. His defense argued that he was reluctant to accept their relationship was over, emphasizing that his messages were not abusive or threatening.
They noted that Lontons had served a significant time in prison, had moved away from Aberdeen, and was now living in England with a new partner, a child, and another on the way.Aberdeen Sheriff Court, however, recognized that he had breached court orders and handed him a £420 fine.
The sheriff emphasized that Lontons had disrespected court instructions, despite his claims of moving on and being accepted into a new relationship. For further updates on court cases and crime reports in Aberdeen, readers are encouraged to join a designated Facebook group.
