In March 2013, a disturbing case involving Artur Wiktor, a dentist from the areas of Deepdale and Walton-le-Dale, came to light, revealing a troubling pattern of predatory behavior. Wiktor, aged 51 and residing on Fareham Close in Walton-le-Dale, was found guilty of attempting to meet a 13-year-old girl for sexual activity, a crime that has led to significant professional and personal consequences.

Wiktor, who previously practiced at the Smile Clinic in Deepdale, appeared to the outside world as a dedicated and respected professional. His demeanor and reputation in the community masked a darker reality that was exposed during his trial at Preston Crown Court. The court proceedings uncovered that Wiktor was, in fact, a sexual predator who engaged in online activities to fulfill his illicit desires. His addiction to chatrooms saw him logging in multiple times daily, seeking out strangers and living out his fantasies behind a screen in what prosecutors described as a sleazy online world.

The case took a dramatic turn when, in 2011, Wiktor arranged to meet a girl he believed to be a 13-year-old from Ormskirk, known by the alias ‘Jenny’. The meeting was set to take place at the Blockbusters car park on Corporation Street in Preston. However, instead of meeting a young girl, Wiktor was met by police officers who had been tipped off about his intentions. His arrival was met with immediate arrest, and he was taken into custody.

During police interviews, Wiktor claimed that his only crime was having a “dirty mind” and insisted that he had gone to the car park out of curiosity, not with the intention of engaging in any illegal activity. Despite his claims, the court found him guilty of attempting to meet a child for sexual purposes. The conviction has had profound repercussions on his life; he has lost his job, his relationship has ended, and he was forced to sell his home at a loss.

Following his arrest, Wiktor was subjected to an interim suspension by the General Dental Council, which oversees the conduct of dental professionals in the UK. This suspension is set to be reviewed in light of his sentencing and ongoing conduct.

Judge Andrew Woolman sentenced Wiktor to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years. Additionally, he was placed under a 10-year sexual offences prevention order, which restricts his internet use and contact with minors.
