ARON JOINES SHOCKS MEIR WITH SECOND JAIL SENTENCE FOR GROPING SCHOOLGIRL
In August 2023, a disturbing incident involving Aron Joines, a resident of Meir, has once again brought to light serious concerns over his conduct. Joines, aged 33, was involved in an unsettling episode where he groped a schoolgirl inside a Co-op store, an act that has now resulted in his imprisonment for the second time.Earlier this year, Joines was convicted of a sex offence and subsequently sentenced to prison. The incident in question was described during court proceedings as an attempt by Joines to steal a £20 note from the girl’s bag. However, the attempt went awry, and instead of successfully snatching the money, he made unwanted physical contact by touching her bottom. The court heard that this distressing event left the young girl deeply traumatized, to the extent that she became too frightened to leave her home and began experiencing panic attacks, highlighting the severe emotional impact of the assault.
Following his conviction, Joines appealed both his sentence and his conviction. Despite his efforts, he was released from prison after serving only three weeks of his original sentence. However, this early release was short-lived, as his appeal was ultimately dismissed. The court ordered that Joines must return to prison to complete the remainder of his sentence, emphasizing the seriousness of his actions.
In January, Joines was sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court to six months in prison after magistrates found him guilty of sexually assaulting a child under 13 by touching. His criminal record was further marked by the imposition of a seven-year sexual harm prevention order, which restricts his activities and interactions, and he is also required to sign the sex offenders register for a period of seven years. These measures reflect the court’s recognition of the gravity of his offences and the need to protect the community from potential harm.
