POWYS SEX OFFENDER ANTHONY LEWIS TO BE SENTENCED FOR INDECENT VIDEO OF CHILD
A Powys sex offender will be sentenced next month after admitting that he accessed an indecent video of a child while also subject of a sexual harm prevention order.
Anthony Lewis, 24, of Presteigne, changed his plea to guilty to one charge of "making" a category A image, the most serious classification of indecent images, on March 14, 2021.
He was granted bail with no conditions and scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday, October 23 at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court.
Judge Jeremy Jenkins told him that a custodial sentence was "highly likely" before adjourning the hearing on Wednesday (September 25).
He said: "You pleaded guilty to two serious matters: breaching a sexual harm prevention order and, while subject to it, making an indecent image of a child." Notwithstanding the seriousness of these matters, I'm going to bail you and order a pre-sentence report.
The fact that I am ordering a pre-sentence report should give you no indication of the type of sentence that I will give however a custodial sentence is highly likely.
Within 24 hours of today you must register with your local police station as a sex offender.
I appreciate that you are already, but you must register the breaches and current offences.
The time that you are subject to the order will be determined on the 23rd of October.
Make sure you attend.
Lewis, of Joe Deakins Road, Presteigne, confirmed that he understood what the judge had said before being told that he was free to leave the court until October 23 where he will be sentenced for both the sexual harm prevention order breach and making an indecent image of a child.
